Center for Sustainable Energy® (CSE) is a national nonprofit that accelerates adoption of clean transportation and distributed energy. Working with state agencies and utilities across the U.S., our in-house marketing agency drives participation in programs promoting solar, energy storage, electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging valued at over $4 billion.

A $1,000 Google search ad campaign for a Connecticut electric vehicle (EV) rebate program generated 3,000 clicks and 11,000 impressions with a CTR of 28%.

Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles
The MOR-EV website was redesigned with enhanced visuals, simplified navigation and content targeted to a new audience: truck buyers. The color palette and styling are influenced by the Massachusetts state seal. mor-ev.org

Self-Generation Incentive Program
CSE designed the Self-Generation Incentive Program website for SDG&E customers to promote energy storage rebates for residents and small businesses. The website presents complex information by integrating white space and illustrations. sgipsd.org

Solar on Multifamily Affordable Housing
The SOMAH Program website provides property owners, tenants and contractors with clear, distinct journeys and access to a wealth of resources, including an interactive map, videos, best practices and success stories. calsomah.org

Engaging LMI Audiences on EVs
A CSE-produced video campaign in English and Spanish promoting EVs as “not that different, just better” received over 600,000 views and captured interest via an online calculator showing how much they can save.

Solar Basics for Property Owners
Created for multifamily property owners, this video illustrates how solar energy systems help reduce a property's overall energy costs.

EV Charger Siting Tool
This animated explainer video highlights a CSE software tool that pinpoints the optimal locations for electric vehicle chargers.
Equity Outreach
We partner with community-based organizations (CBOs) to ensure clean energy and transportation initiatives are informed by and benefit people living in low-income and disadvantaged communities.

CBO Case Management
CSE takes a hands-on approach to building mutually beneficial relationships with CBOs, providing tailored training and resources and delivering insightful measurement and reporting.

Culturally Appropriate Collateral
CSE leverages technology and native speakers to create culturally appropriate, in-language and trackable educational materials used by CBOs and other trusted messengers.

A multipart email campaign encouraging property owners to check their incentive eligibility through an online form led to 30% expressing interest or directly contacting the program.

California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project
Quarterly email newsletters share updates and success stories with 3,900 subscribers, with an impressive 56% open rate and a 6% click-through rate, nearly double the industry average.

Solar for All
CSE engaged state energy officials via a Solar for All Playbook and monthly articles, emails and social media posts, generating nearly 70,000 impressions.
Branding
CSE offers comprehensive branding of programs, which includes logo design, color palette, imagery style and brand guidelines, to ensure a memorable and consistent design that differentiates your program from all others.

Vehicle Charging Innovations for Multi-Unit Dwellings
Stylized forms of a charging unit and cord were incorporated within the logo design for VCI-MUD. Based on the logo design, a comprehensive icon set was created for the website and associated toolkit.

California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project
Priority and urgency are conveyed through the design of the CALeVIP visual identity. An energetic color palette and illustration style are integrated with the branding.

Charge Up New Jersey
The visual brand CSE developed complements the state's Clean Energy Program. Elements within the brand guidelines include logo usage, writing style guide, creative elements and sample collateral.
Earned and Social Media
CSE offers press release writing and distribution, media pitching, press conference planning and organic social media content creation and management.

Press Conferences
A press event launching the San Diego Solar Equity Program generated 1,000+ visitors to the program’s website tracked directly from news articles and yielded 664 signups for program applications in less than a week.

News Releases and Outreach
News releases with multiple partners for the California Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project since January 2022 have resulted in 625+ news articles about new EV charging stations shared more than 60,500 times on social media.
